A Texas jury has found Samsung Electronics liable for infringing on five patents held by Mojo Mobility Inc., awarding the company $192.1 million in damages. The verdict was delivered on September 13, 2024, during a trial presided over by U.S. District Judge Rodney Gilstrap in the Eastern District of Texas.

The jury concluded that Samsung willfully infringed upon Mojo Mobility’s patents, which are essential to wireless charging technology used in various products, including smartphones, smartwatches, and earbuds.

This ruling marks a significant victory for Mojo Mobility, which has been engaged in legal battles with Samsung over patent rights related to wireless charging since 2022. The case is officially titled Mojo Mobility Inc. v. Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. et al., case number 2:22-cv-00398.

The verdict follows a series of recent successes for McKool Smith against Samsung, including a previous $142 million patent damages verdict related to 5G technology. The law firm has established a strong track record in patent litigation, securing numerous substantial jury verdicts in favor of its clients.

In light of this ruling, Samsung may face additional scrutiny regarding its wireless charging products and potential further legal challenges from other patent holders in the technology sector.
