Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are intensifying their campaigns as the 2024 presidential election approaches, with just 15 days remaining until Election Day on November 5. Recent polls indicate a neck-and-neck race, particularly in key battleground states.
Polling data from Real Clear Politics shows Harris leading Trump by a narrow margin of 0.9 percentage points nationally, but Trump holds slight advantages in crucial states such as Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin. In these states, Trump’s polling averages show leads of 0.7, 1.2, and 0.2 percentage points respectively.
Today, Harris is making a significant campaign swing through the Rust Belt alongside former Representative Liz Cheney, a notable critic of Trump. Their itinerary includes stops in Chester County, Pennsylvania; Waukesha County, Wisconsin; and Oakland County, Michigan. Cheney endorsed Harris last month and is participating in a series of moderated conversations aimed at suburban voters.
Meanwhile, Trump is focusing his efforts in North Carolina, where he is expected to tour areas affected by Hurricane Helene in Asheville before holding a rally in Greenville. He will also engage with faith leaders in Concord. Trump’s campaign strategy emphasizes economic issues and critiques of the Biden administration’s handling of inflation and living costs.
In terms of fundraising, Harris’s campaign has significantly outperformed Trump’s, raising approximately $222 million compared to Trump’s $63 million in September alone. As of early October, Harris’s campaign reported having about $346 million available for the final stretch of the campaign, while Trump had around $283 million.
A recent Associated Press/NORC poll indicates that Harris has gained an edge over Trump on economic issues that resonate with middle-class voters. The poll reveals that 46% of respondents favor Harris’s tax policies compared to only 35% who support Trump’s approach. Despite this shift, a substantial portion of voters—62%—still view the economy negatively.
As both candidates ramp up their efforts to sway undecided voters, the next two weeks will be crucial in determining the outcome of this highly competitive election cycle.
